Five kilogrammes per alloy and size is a deliberate figure, not an arbitrary one.
A bench sample of a few hundred grams tells you whether an alloy melts. It does not tell you whether it will run on your equipment for a shift. Five kilogrammes is enough to set up your actual heating cycle, run a statistically meaningful number of joints, inspect them by your normal method, and put a few assemblies into service testing. It is also enough to check that the wire feeds through your own equipment without cast or helix problems — a failure mode that only appears at production spool weight.
Many accounts qualify one or two alloys at this level and then consolidate the validated grades into a container order. If you need a smaller quantity for a specific reason, tell us what you are trying to establish and we will tell you whether 5 kg can be split.
