Silver Brazing Rods Ag45 (BAg-36)

Ag45 silver brazing rod, classified as AWS A5.8 BAg-36 and ISO 17672 Ag145, is a widely used cadmium-free silver-copper-zinc-tin brazing filler metal for industrial bulk brazing projects. With a silver content of 44–46%, this grade strikes a practical balance between brazing performance, joint stability and material expenditure, making it a preferred medium-silver alloy for wholesale manufacturing clients.

Its standard chemical composition range: Ag 44–46%, Cu 26–28%, Zn 23.5–27.5%, Sn 2.0–3.0%. The solidus temperature is 640°C and liquidus at 680°C, with a recommended working brazing temperature window of 677°C to 813°C. The tin addition helps reduce the liquidus point compared with conventional Ag45CuZn alloys. This characteristic lowers the risk of overheating and grain coarsening on thin or thermally sensitive base metals. It delivers stable fluidity, reliable wetting and consistent gap filling for joint clearance of 0.02 mm to 0.13 mm under torch, induction or furnace brazing processes.

Joints formed by Ag45 silver brazing rods show good ductility, leak tightness, moderate electrical conductivity and acceptable corrosion resistance. It works well on similar and dissimilar substrate combinations including copper, brass, bronze, carbon steel, stainless steel and nickel-based alloys. Common application scenarios cover HVAC and refrigeration heat exchangers, valve assemblies, fluid manifolds, electrical contact parts, precision instrument fittings and mechanical components that withstand vibration and cyclic temperature variation. It is also selected for component overhaul and automated brazing lines with controlled production parameters.
